Quote of the Month

There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.

Garden Club meeting Tuesday 11 November - Gorgeous Gardens in Galicia and the Reawakening of Lawrence Johnson's Riviera garden in Menton, France

The next Garden Club meeting takes place on 11th November at 11.00 am in the Salon de Actos, Competa.

 This will be
a talk given by Carol and Greg Starr on:

Gorgeous Gardens in Galicia and the
Reawakening of Lawrence Johnson's Riviera garden in Menton, France

Lawrence Johnson was the creator of the famous, now National Trust, Hidcote garden in Gloucestershire.
He created his sumptuous Serre de la Madone garden in the south of France so that he could grow the more exotic, tender plants that would not have survived in the UK.

How to find the Salon de Los Actos, Ayuntamiento de Còmpeta.  La Rampa, Cómpeta

Most people will park in the village carpark in the centre where the Saturday Market is held.
  • Out of car and look upwards - eventually you will see the Church Tower
  • Head up the steep hill called La Rampa towards this  visible, brown, Moorish Tower of the Church.
  • Half way up, on the left of this hill is a small Eroski supermarket
  • Opposite it is the Town Hall Noticeboard on the Wall - (The Ayuntamientio itself is  up a flight of white steps.)
  • No need to ascend, enter the building on the ground floor where you find the Cafè - El Despacho de Fernan on your right and the Salon de Los Actos on your left.

  1. I'm sure I am not the only AGC member who immediately thinks of the relevance of the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Perhaps we could ask members to arrive five minutes early and hold a two minute silence in memory of those who allowed us to live this wonderful life.
