There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.

Mediterranean Gardening Association events

Hello everyone,
Exciting news of the next International Spring Conference Weekend, we will be visiting the Lisbon area and Roy and Sue Lancaster are able to be with us once again. The theme for this event will be ‘The Portuguese Garden’ and we will be visiting some of the best historic and private gardens in the area.
There will be illustrated talks on the historical context for Portuguese gardens and on the Plant Hunters of the Past and their impact on our plant choices.
Garden visits will include Monserrate Park and Palace in Sintra with the opportunity to visit the recently restored Mexico garden which was the subject of the talk by Gerald Luckhurst in March this year.
The dates are later than usual to allow Roy to join us so we have booked the weekend of  1st to 3rd May 2015 for this special event, the gardens should be looking fabulous. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in taking part as we will shortly have to start reserving hotel rooms at our venue near to Sintra. This is  a holiday weekend here in Portugal so we will have to be quick to get the best deals. Full details will be sent out before the New Year but please keep the date free and let me know if you are interested so that we have an idea of numbers.
The next event will be an Open Garden Weekend on the Algarve at our home and garden with the opportunity to purchase plants, books etc., look round the garden and have garden gossip over tea and buns. This will be over two days on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December from 11.00 to 4.00pm
Directions available on request and more info in the newsletter.
Our last event for 2014 is a special meeting for MGA members and their guests on December 16th in Almancil.
Thank you to everyone who supported our Garden Fair this year, we had a magnificent and record breaking attendance. This proves that Mediterranean gardening is as popular as ever and good quality plants and information are always worth an outing !
Please pass this message and our newsletter onto anyone who may be interested.
Very best wishes for the new gardening year ahead,
Rosie Peddle
