There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.

Garden Club meeting 14 April 2015

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, 14th April 2015,  11am  is at the beautiful hotel Finca El Cerrillo, Canillas de Albaida, where we can tour at our leisure their stunning gardens and land.

There is limited parking, so where feasible, please share cars.

For those members who visited the gardens last year you know the gardens are a delight, and well worth a second visit. Much work was in progress last year and we hope we can see how this has developed during our April visit.

As our generous hosts, Sue and Gorden Kind are providing refreshments, please advise Cindy via email cindyjones19@hotmail.com  by Thursday, 09 April so that she can confirm numbers attending:

a ) if you are attending

b)  if you need a lift.

Thank you

1) Directions from Sayalonga.

Take the road from Sayalonga towards Competa. After Sayalonga village continue for approx another 10 mins until you come to a very sharp left turn signposted to Archez and Corumbela.

This tricky junction is best described as a 'Y' junction and you need to take the left, downhill road.

(NB Ignore signs to Competa and Canillas de Albaida.)
This road will bring you to the village of Archez. At this point, there are 2 ways to get to the Finca. We recommend the slightly longer route for your first visit!

In Archez, turn left and go over the bridge. Take the road on your right signposted to Sedella and Salares.

After about 5 mins you will reach a sign at the top of a hill saying 'Fogarate.'

Turn right here and keep right (do not go left up towards Fogarate) follow the road as it snakes towards the white village of Canillas.

Keep right if in doubt at any point.

Finca el Cerrillo is on your right.

2) Directions if coming from Competa

Exit Canillas de Albaida by going down the hill on the road towards Archez, past the village swimming pool on the right and Shrine of San Anton on the left.

After San Anton it is literally only a few yards before you need to turn right.

DON’T CONTINUE TO ARCHEZ .

Turn right at the "T junction"  at the bottom  (signposted for Puerto de los Carboneros)

There is also a small pylon at this point and a few yards on - some bins in a wooden enclosure which you will pass on your left) Then follow the road down to the Roman Bridge with the little mill house on the right and stay on the road as it climbs back up out of the valley.

There are a couple of ‘challenging’ bends – after a very steep right bend you will see the road levels out and there is a sign on your left ‘villa Lisa Katerina’ .

Only a few yards on your left is the entrance for Finca el Cerrillo.

If you get lost on the day call  Finca el Cerrillo tel 952 030 444. http://hotelfinca.com/
